Product Classification: DCS I/O Control Station Remote I/O Station
Brand: ABB
Product description:
S800 I/O is a wide-range, distributed process I/O system that communicates with the main controller through standard industrial field bus. Its wide connectivity enables S800 I/O to connect not only ABB controllers but also other third-party controllers. It upholds ABB’s advanced industrial IT technology.
There are two types of S800 series I/O, compact and standard: compact S800L I/O is an optimized and economical solution for connecting field devices and completing basic functions of measurement and control, mainly for simple applications. Standard S800 I/O is used for more applications and supports I/O hot-plugging. The I/O of the two series can also be mixed on one guide.
S800 series I/O has the following characteristics:
Flexibility to maximize installation requirements such as small-scale or large-scale, indoor or outdoor, wall mounting or floor fixing;
Modular structure, which can be continuously expanded according to the needs of users;
Save costs and help users save on hardware, cables, installation and maintenance;
High reliability, good vibration resistance, hot-plug support, self-diagnosis, redundancy and other features
The S800 series I/O can be installed directly in the field, closer to the sensors and actuators in the field, reducing installation costs by reducing the cost of cable laying.
The S800 series I/O can be configured almost completely at will. All you need to do is set up the Fieldbus station address.
The extension cable allows the S800 I/O module to be mounted on multiple guides for a more flexible cabinet layout.
Length: 0.3 ~ 1.2 m
Compact and Extensible Installation
S800 I/O and S800L I/O can be mounted on standard DIN guides. The compact S800L I/O module is an integrated module which is fixed and installed by detachable screws on the base connection board.
The standard S800 I/O module consists of two parts, the base and the I/O card inserted on the base. This dock integrates connection terminals for input and output wiring.
There are two types of pedestals. The compact type is used for the vertical installation of I/O modules. When space is limited, this type of pedestal saves space and integrates maximized IO channels on the guides. Extended type is used for horizontal installation of I/O modules. This type of base can be installed in cabinets with few space restrictions. Extended base provides on-site power distribution and insurance protection.
The compact and extended type I/O docks can be used in one I/O station at the same time, which means they can be mixed together to cater to the terminal wiring requirements of each field device for maximum flexible installation.
Suitable space and environmental protection requirements make S800 I/O more suitable for distributed installation, thus maximizing investment costs.
Supports Profibus DP communication
Both S800 I/O and S800L I/O support Profibus DP communication, so they are more suitable for connections from ABB and other vendors’controllers.
Non-redundant or redundant scheme
The S800I/O slave supports redundant power supply and connection with the main CPU: direct connection, optical connection and profifbus field bus connection. Redundant configuration of I/O module connections, such as redundant internal bus and I/O channel redundancy, can also be achieved. This means your system will be more reliable.
Analog or Digital I/O
Typical digital processing modules provide 16 I/O channels, while analog processing modules provide 8 I/O channels. S800 I/O slave stations can extend up to 12 I/O modules on a single station, which means that each I/O slave station can integrate up to 192 digital I/O channels or 96 analog I/O channels, or mix digital and analog I/O channels between the two limits. With the expansion of Optical Fiber ModuleBus, each I/O slave can integrate up to 24 I/O modules, thus doubling the I/O capabilities mentioned above. The Optical Modulebus interface integrated by the AC800M controller can extend up to 7 I/O slaves.
The S800 I/O slave module can be mounted on a single rail or in several parts, which require an internal connection cable.
The optional mounting method makes S800 I/O suitable for more occasions such as standard wall mounting and axle bracket fence mounting. Fiber optic ModuleBus can distribute the S800 I/O from the station to several hundred meters apart, making it more cost effective and less noisy in distributed control.
Various industrial standards D.C. and a.c. Input and output signals. It also includes thermal resistance and thermocouple signals, as well as pulse and frequency counting modules. The Series also provides security and HART protocol modules. Visible I/O products include interface requirements for all process equipment in the plant, maximizing cost savings for device connections.
Safety or hazard zone
The Standard S800 I/O Series includes an I/O module that integrates intrinsic safety signals to facilitate the installation of I/O stations in potentially hazardous Class I, Div.2 areas and to connect field equipment in Class I, Div1 hazardous areas (Zone 2~0).
Therefore, you can use S800 I/O products throughout the factory, and standardized products will benefit you more!
Supports SOE functionality
There are time marking functions, such as input signal processing (even if the input signal is connected to a different controller) with rates less than 1 ms. Provides SOE functionality for the main system and ensures that the source of the problem can be found for any production disturbance in tightly linked applications.
Robust and reliable
S800 I/O is certified by Classification Society and still ensures high reliability in very harsh environments, which will bring more benefits to your system in future production.
