The MTL5544 is a two-channel repeater power supply that is designed to provide fully-floating dc supplies for energizing two conventional 2-wire or 3-wire transmitters. It can also be used to drive two safe-area loads from a single 2-wire transmitter (i.e. 1 in, 2 out) by interconnecting the input channels.

The MTL5544 is suitable for use in hazardous areas and has a number of features that make it ideal for this application, including:

• Fully-floating dc outputs
• Over-current and over-temperature protection
• Reverse polarity protection
• HART® communication support
• Wide input voltage range (20 to 35V dc)
• Compact size

The MTL5544 is available in two versions:

• MTL5544: Standard version
• MTL5544/S: SIL 2 compliant version

The SIL 2 compliant version is suitable for use in safety instrumented systems (SIS).
