The IS215ACLIH1AM uses a microprocessor-based controller and communication networks like ISBus and Ethernet to perform several duties for the Mark VI. It can be used with either the EX2100 exciter or with a standard Innovation series Drive.

The IS215ACLIH1AM has a connected faceplate that includes:

·Two ISBus ports, each with two LED indicators (one yellow and one green)
·A reset switch
·Two COM ports
·Eight status LEDs
·An Ethernet port
·Four additional LED indicators

The IS215ACLIH1AM is designed to work in conjunction with GE’s Control System Toolbox software. This software can be used to change and configure runtime settings on the IS215ACLIH1AM. Operating system upgrades are achieved through the serial loader.
