The ABB TB842 is a Modulebus Optical Port, which is a communication interface between the CI801 or CI840/CI840A FCI and the TB820/TB820V2/TB840/TB840A ModuleBus Modem of an I/O cluster or ABB drives units via the Optical ModuleBus.

The TB842 is used to connect ABB drives and I/O devices to the ABB Ability System 800xA distributed control system (DCS). It provides a high-speed, reliable connection for data communication between the devices.

The TB842 has the following features:

• Supports data rates of up to 10 Mbps
• Provides a fiber optic connection for long-distance communication
• Supports hot swapping, so that the module can be replaced without powering down the system
• Complies with the IEC 61158 standard for industrial communication networks
